Antigue T. Gilbert & Co. Circa 1862 Square Piano. Great condition with light restoration needed. Rose colored wood. Exceptional quality in craftsmanship etc. This piano was located in an original 1800's plantation home. It is as old as the house it was in. The likes of George Washington, Marie Antoinette, and Tomas Jefferson owned these piano's. A great Antigue piece to own, and to also add to one's collection of American Antigues from the past.
If have the want to restore this piano yourself, it may likely be in good enough shape to do a DIY job on it, uhh otherwise if your craftsmanship is up to par. Not for the amateur to attempt, and that is why I won't try it.
TIMOTHY GILBERT PIANO COMPANY: Timothy Gilbert is one of the oldest and most historical piano makers in American history. Timothy Gilbert began building pianos in Boston in about 1829. (At the same time, his brother, Lemuel Gilbert, was also building pianos in Boston, although Lemuel left the business for several years during the 1830’s.)
Timothy Gilbert established himself as “T. Gilbert & Co.” in 1834. He was an innovator in piano design and evolution, building a number of “Cocked Hat” grands and Square Grand Piano's.
