Wash basin and pitcher set originally intended for a wash stand. It is late 1800s to early 1900s at any rate, it is over 100 years old. There are no chips or cracks although there are signs of wear on the gold trim and a little darkness in the bottom of the basin from being used. I bought it from a family who had had it in the family for a long time and was being stored when they decided to sell a few things. It's a lovely piece and originally I had intended to keep it, but it is large and I really don't have a good place to put it and not have to do a reworking of where things are put at in my house that would be a little time consuming. After doing some research I have determined that the design was by Robert Allen at early designer of this type of ware, but most likely was made in a shop under his direction as there are some very noticeable flaws in the painting. This just adds to the uniqueness of the pieces. It does have a maker's mark that is very hard to read, but I managed to find a little information about it through the mark. You are welcome to make a reasonable offer. These older pieces sale for over $200. The basin is 15 in wide and about 6 in tall. The pitcher is 11 inches tall and 27 inches at its widest point around. It looks very delicate, but it's a very strong piece. This was a functioning piece of property in an old household as seen by the wear patterns.
