I took this mare in as a rescue type situation. She was supposedly used as a barrel/gaming horse by her previous owner and developed a lot of aggressive behavior issues. After I got her we figured out her stifle was causing her pain. I worked on her behavior issues, took her away from speed work, and started to retrain her to be a nice trail horse for someone.
She came along really nice and has turned into a really sweet mare.
Currently not on any joint supplements or maintenance treatments and does fine with “routine riding”, just can’t handle anything intense or athletic. Loping the trails now and again does not seem to be an problem.
I ran into some boarding issues so I had to move this sweet girl to my parents house. Unfortunately because of that I did not get to finish working with her like I had planned. I would not say she is beginner safe YET.
She still has a lot of pep in her step and I didn’t get to desensitize her enough to call her bombproof on the trails. But her behavior issues are corrected and with an experienced handler she will finish out to be great horse, and could easily be made into a beginner safe horse with a little more time in the saddle.
She has all the buttons and she’s eager to work.
This girl has been shuffled around enough for her lifetime. My priority is she goes to the right person who plans to give her a forever home.
